Use of it
The literally meaning of the word it is thing named or in question, However we use the word it when we talk about time, day, distance and weather i.e.
Time
What time is it? It is quarter past nine.
What is time by your watch? It is half past five.
Is train reaching in time? No it’s late
Note: In this sentence it used as a pronoun place of train.
It’s time to watch T.V.
It’s time to go bed.
Day
What is today? It’s Friday.
What is your date of birth? It’s 11th May, 1956.
It’s 12 June.
It was my birthday yesterday.
Distance
How far it from Mankera to Bhakkar? It’s 45 KM.
It’s five minutes walk from my home to office.
What is distance from here to airport? It’s long way.
Is it far away? No it isn’t
Weather
It is warm today. It is fine day . It’s cloudy day. It’s snowing. It’s not raining.
Does it snow very often? Yes it does. Did it rain here yesterday? No it didn’t
It’s nice day today. What about the weather today? it’s very fine.
Use of A/An
A/An are indefinite articles, generally a is used with the word begins with consonant and an with the vowel. However, when a word begins with consonant and the first alphabet is silent and the its second alphabet is vowel an is used in place of a. If a word begins with vowel but sounding consonant then a is used in spite of an. These are used with one thing or person. these are also used with the jobs and countable things.
