During the present era media has become so advance/fast that it has made the world global village. It keeps the people well aware about whole of the world instantly. Media is consisting of print media and electronic media. Media is the means through which politics occurs. Presently media is so powerful that its role is as a conductor, “conductor” being used in the same logic as that which applies to, for example, a copper wire that conducts electricity. In a supreme world, that’s -all- that media does in the political realm. Certainly, individual reporters often can’t or won’t try to keep their reporting politically impartial, but some of them, at least, appear to try.

The political role of the news media is to report on actions of elected officials and to place local, national, and international problems on the public agenda. This would include, of course, reports on responsible individuals and organizations opposed to government actions.
Publicity and entertainment media are greatly different from the news media in their roles in politics. Infotainment programs — like political talk shows — are a form of entertainment media blended with news.In the news media, news reports are much different from news features, opinion columns or editorials.Access to the news media is critical to politicians trying to achieve public support and votes.

The exposé of politicians by the media is such that one might, unintentionally, form the sense that politicians never do anything positive for society’s benefit. The media plays a very important role in keeping the public well-versed of issues of the moment.
As it’s most excellent, exploratory journalism can bring to light matters of profound public significance. However, one needs to identify that the power of the media is seldom seen in terms of the good that can be promoted. Rather the media’s role has been considered in terms of the harms that have been prohibited. The cynical might propose that it is no coincidence that prevailing orthodoxy maintains that ‘bad news’ sells.

Yet, this limited view fails to identify that the media can have a very positive effect on the motivation of politicians who are struggling to improve the standard of their behavior. What point is there in giving a thoughtful speech in the House when it is only the part of the ‘head-kicker’ which is reported? Why take the trouble to make intricate policies of high standard when only those aspects of politics capable of being reduced to a ‘sound-bite’ are likely to be reported? Why contribute to public debate when there are doubts that the issues will be given a reasonable reporting?

When raised by politicians questions such as these tend to be dismissed as an overstated response by sensitive individuals with vested interests. Whether or not politicians have thick skins is beside the point. The importance of these questions is that they propose that journalists and commentator have the capability to further develop their unique role by acknowledging or encouraging the work of the politician who aspires to and achieves the highest standards of public service and propriety.

The significant identity of a responsible media is playing an unbiased role in reporting a matter without giving needless propaganda to draw the attention of the innocent public with the object of making money and money only. After reporting accurately the media can educate the public to form their own opinion in the matters of public interest. The media can bring to light the short-comings of the official machinery in its working, bringing out the sufferings of the public in general. As political parties start media for themselves and use it for their own self-interested ends, the role of the media is very much lessened. During elections, in democracy the media is a valuable tool for converting the public opinion.

The idea that media should serve the society, particularly in the third world, in solving the problems people are facing has already gained momentum. Journalists, politicians and even the general public are talking about the necessity of harnessing the media .Around election time; the media motivates the opinion of the public in favor of its favorite candidate.
The main media plays a much bigger role in the formation of our national politics than most people realize. The media helps describe and select the issues, and acts as doorkeeper in setting the limits for political debate and sometimes even candidacies for public office.
