Oasis is a fertile area in the middle of the desert, generally the area surrounding the springs or other water sources. More often than not oasis is rounded by small villages that make use of the oasis for their life need. Oases also provide habitat for animals and even humans if the area is big enough. However, some of the oasis in the world dried significantly. The location of oases has been of critical importance for trade and transportation routes in desert areas.

Ubari Oasis, Lybia

Ubari Oasis is located near Fezzan, Libya. It lies between the Messak Sattafat plateau and Idhan Ubari sand dunes and lakes. This saltwater lake is a trade center location for local residents. The water is salted like the Dead Sea. It is also known as Gabroun Oasis.
