Representing someone else’s work as your own work in examination hall is called academic cheating. Main purpose of academic cheating is to obtain the highest grades in order to gain admission to the best universities. Mostly, students feel that their teachers give them a hard time when they have to take a test. Therefore, it is very common that most students find ways to help themselves pass the exams or change their grades from “F” to “A”. The students learned how to get high scores and the professor learned that a Cooks Corner approach to “creating” things backfires all the time.
Cheating is considered as dishonesty in the whole world. It counts as stealing and lying. It’s a risk in it, and if you get caught, take full responsibility for your actions. A survey conducted in U.S. News and World Report and the results indicated that there was a significant number of undergraduate students who have cheated at some point during their college careers.
Teenagers are more inclined towards academic cheating. Older teens are more naturally disposed toward cheating than the younger ones. Cheating is meticulously planned, rationally calculated, and painstakingly premeditated. Students who are caught cheating face embarrassment, shame, and possibly, expulsion. Thus, the risks associated with cheating are very real. Yet, despite such formal and informal sanctions, research indicates that an astounding 60-70% of college students admit to cheating.
Here are some common cheating methods that some students use.
Fingernail Method:
Write down information on the fingernails and it is the easy way for looking at your hands.
Reflection method:
Use reflective surface folder on exam day. Scribble the necessary notes on the surface using a sharp piece of metal and look at it from the right angle. The notes show up. Ruler can be used instead of a folder.
Calculator Method:
By using scientific calculator you can solve mathematical and other problems.
Looking method:
By simply cracking your neck or something like that, try to take a brief look at the paper of another student.
Pen Cap method:
Take short notes on small slip of paper and then roll up and slip the paper into the cap of pen. Multiple pens will give you more notes.
Desk Method:
This is a very easy but complicated method that can be used for almost any test. This method only works if you have the kind of desks where you can put stuff inside.
Alternative Sleeve Method:
slide the paper with your notes or answers into your sleeve.
White Ink Method:
Write in a barley visible color e-g. pale yellow or white on your arm.
You can use many other methods for your purpose like using Shoe Sole, Rubber Band Method, Lunch Tray, Hat , Cell Phone and iPhone, I.D Badge, Hand Glove, The Klutz Cheat, Wallet , The MP3, The Coke-label, Desk, Water Bottle, Trash Can Cheat, Body Parts, Wristband, Tissue, Scraps, Scratch Paper Trick, The Shoe, The Locket, Environment, Eye Glasses, and paper on back of desk.
